Since 2015, Center for Discovery Houston outpatient eating disorder center has treated patients of all genders and all ages who are struggling with eating disorders. This program includes partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatments, which are day treatments designed to teach patients coping skills, help them build a healthy relationship with food, and help them establish a strong support system with their family and friends. Outpatient eating disorder treatment also focuses on providing therapy to the family in order to help them fully understand the underlying triggers and social stigmas associated with eating disorder so they can develop the skills to help their loved one through recovery. Center for Discovery Houston has trained staff that provide dialectal behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and art therapy with an individualized approach that focuses on the patient as a whole.
